Sir Peter John Ratcliffe: British nephrologist and Clinical Research Director at the Francis Crick Institute, awarded like his co-laureates, for discoveries of how cells sense and adapt to oxygen availability.

Gregg L. Semenza: American professor of pediatrics, radiation oncology, biological chemistry, medicine, and oncology.

William G. Kaelin Jr: American professor based at Harvard University and the Dana–Farber Cancer Institute.
